Source: Erie Times-News, Pa.迷你倉Dec. 29--If you have a flexible spending account, Tuesday is likely your deadline to use -- or lose -- all the money that's in there.Erie-area vision centers and pharmacies have seen a rise in end-of-the-year appointments and in customers looking to spend the last of the tax-free money they've put into their flex accounts to cover health-care costs."They're getting contacts, or a second pair of eyeglasses. We're seeing a good number of college kids home on break getting eye exams," said Carrie Chorney, optician at Precision Vision Center, 3279 W. 26th St. "Most of these people know they need to spend the money."Some flexible spending accounts have extended grace periods built in by their employers, giving people until March to spend their money before it disappears."We'll see another wave of people after the first of the year," said Sean Curry, manager of Curry's Spectacle Shop, 3202 Buffalo Road, in Wesleyville."A lot of times they'll come in and say they have such and such doll迷你倉西貢rs left on their account and need to use it up," Curry added. "We'll sell them one or two pairs of glasses, or whatever they want to buy that fits that dollar amount."The majority of flexible spending accounts, which cover hundreds of items and services, from dental work and chiropractic care to childbirth classes, expire on Tuesday.Nationwide pharmacy chains like Walgreens have been sending customers e-mails reminding them of the need to use, or lose, what's in the flex accounts.Walgreens is offering discounts on flex account-eligible items, such as vitamins and blood pressure monitors."Historically, it comes down to the last 24 hours," said Nicole Ras, pharmacy manager at the Walgreens at 3727 Peach St."We'll see people filling up their shopping carts."GERRY WEISS can be reached at 870-1884 or by e-mail.
