The Texas Department of Public Safety would report the driver of a Ranger failed to stop at a red light, causing the collision that killed him and his passenger.Another man died early Sunday morning, when a DPS trooper reported he veered into westbound traffic on FM 2020.Hours later, a 27-year-old Odessan died on Farm-to-Market 1788 in Midland, according to city spokesperson Sara Higgins. The Midland Police Department was still investigating Monday.And so, as the end of the year approaches, the death toll rose by four on the roads of Midland and Ector counties. A request for data about the total number of fatal wrecks in the counties was pending Monday. Midland and Odessa officials reported each city had seen 20 die in wrecks within the city limits.DPS Trooper Adrian Olivas reported those killed in the Ranger on Saturday as Ruben Hinojos Gandara, 62, and Paula Sanchez, 71, both of Odessa. Gandara was driving west on West Eighth Street, ignored the red light at the intersection of West Loop 338 and collided with a 2007 Dodge Ram that was driving southbound, according to a Olivas' report.Gandra and Sanchez were pronounced dead at the scene. Emergency responders would close the road for hours.A crowd of onlookers formed, including some parents with children, watching from the rear of a convenience store, facing the loop."Your heart hurts for them because of their families," said one of the onlookers, Myrna Go迷你倉將軍澳zalez. "And the seasons are coming up. It's heartbreaking."The driver of the Dodge Ram, 53-year-old Carroll Carpenter, was taken by ambulance to Medical Center Hospital. He was no longer listed as a patient on Monday.A DPS report by Trooper Marco Caro identified the man who died on FM 2020 (which becomes University Boulevard in Odessa) as 21-year-old Anthony Estrada, of Bellflower, Calif.Estrada was driving east at 2:13 a.m. about four miles west of Odessa on the farm-to-market road, when his 1998 Ford Mustang struck an oncoming 2006 Ford F-150 in the westbound lane, the DPS reported.Estrada, who had been wearing his seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene, Caro reported. The driver of the truck, 42-year-old Humberto Linares, was treated and released from Medical Center Hospital.A little more than four hours later, Katlin Gaddy became the ninth person to die in a wreck on FM 1788 this year, according to Midland-Reporter Telegram archives. Gaddy was driving a Dodge Avenger north near North Loop 40, colliding with an oncoming Ford F-350, Higgins reported. It was unclear whether Gaddy was wearing a seatbelt.
