Source: San Antonio Express-NewsOct.迷你倉 26--SAN ANTONIO -- The federal health official responsible for spearheading the Affordable Care Act stopped in San Antonio today to emphasize the government website frustrating many consumers will be fixed.U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said the website where consumers apply for tax credits and shop for affordable health insurance should be running smoothly by the end of November. The federal government has brought in a new general contractor to correct the problems, Sebelius told a large audience at a South Side health clinic."We want to dispel the notion that the website is fatally flawed," Sebelius told the crowd at CentroMed Health and Wellness Center on Commercial Avenue. "It is functional. It can be fixed. It will be fixed."Flanked by a supportive Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff and San Antonio Mayor Juli嫕 Castro, Sebelius said 700,000 people nationwide have submitted applications for health coverage to the federal marketplace. The deadline to enroll is March 31.Sebelius acknowledged the difficulties consumers have faced trying to log on and use healthcare.gov, noting her office has data suggesting only three out of 10 people h自存倉ve successfully completed the enrollment process electronically. She said consumers can still sign up three other ways -- by phone, by regular postal mail or in person by visiting a certified application counselor, such as those at CentroMed."As the President said Monday, the Affordable Care Act is more than a website," Sebelius told the audience. She faced a friendly crowd during her brief visit here, which followed a stop she made in Austin this morning. None of the questions asked during the public "panel discussion" at CentroMed were critical in nature, perhaps because verbal questions weren't taken from the audience. CentroMed President and CEO Ernesto G鏔ez, who moderated the event, read aloud several written questions that interested observers submitted before the panel discussion began. Some Republicans critical of the government's implementation of the Affordable Care Act have called on Sebelius to resign. In a separate briefing with reporters following today's panel discussion, Sebelius said she will not step down.pohare@express-news.netCopyright: ___ (c)2013 the San Antonio Express-News Visit the San Antonio Express-News at .mysanantonio.com Distributed by MCT Information Services迷你倉
