Source: Jordan Times, AmmanAug.mini storage 07--AMMAN -- A Facebook campaign is underway to collect 100,000 signatures to pressure local <<>> services providers (ISPs) to block pornographic sites in the country.The "Blocking Porn Sites Campaign", with some 37,000 likes, which urges <<>> users in Jordan to register and join it in voicing support for blocking such sites, said on its Facebook page that watching pornography is a sort of addiction and damages physical and psychological health.Such sites violate the country's traditions and the religion, organisers of the campaigns said, noting that several demonstrations have been held to demand blocking these sites."Decision-makers should listen to our demands and should take the right decision and block these harmful sites," the organisers added.The campaign stressed that such sites need to be blocked for the protection of young generations.The Ministry of Information and Communications Technology has recently urged ISPs to make available tools for users to block these sites.In its strategy for the ICT <<>>, the ministry said it will work with ISPs to provide users with advice on the safe use of the <<>> and the protection of children.It also added that it will work on blocking pornographic websites by enabling beneficiaries to limit access to undesired content, and will take any legislative measures to achieve this.The ministry has also said in recent remarks to The Jordan Times that a parental control <<>> programme that enables parents to limit the content their children see online is expected to be ready this year.However, ICT Minister Hatem Halawani said in recent remarks in Parliament that it was impossible to completely blself storageck pornographic sites.An expert in the IT <<>> said there are many ways whereby users can access such websites."There are free programmes available on the <<>> that users can <<>> and use to access pornographic sites if they are blocked.
