Source: Tulsa World, Okla.迷你倉庫Aug. 01--If you are into anime, and if you know terms like cosplay, and if you can decipher acronyms like LARP, you probably need to make plans to attend this weekend's event Tokyo in Tulsa. For the uninitiated, cosplay is "costume playing," and LARP stands for live-action role playing, and you can find the hardcore fans of these specialties and more at what is billed as Oklahoma's largest gaming event of the year.Tokyo in Tulsa is a three-day event focused on Japanese animation and gaming, but its program at downtown's Cox Business Center finds room for creative writing, art, fashion and music. In music news, Destrose -- an all-female heavy metal band arriving from Japan to reportedly make Tulsa its U.S. debut spot -- is set to perform at 9 p.m. Friday, and the event's annual rave is scheduled for Saturday night. The site offers 40,000 square feet in which to spread out the multiple types of gaming available at this event: console, PC (personal computer), arcade, tabletop, CCG (collectible card game) and plenty of LARPing. The point is that this is a games-galore event where all manner of coming-in-costume is not merely welcomed, but encouraged.Tokyo in Tulsa will also play host to the in儲存tial public screening of a new independently made thriller, "Chariot," with an original story that takes place entirely in the claustrophobic setting of a jetliner. The movie's synopsis: "Seven strangers wake aboard a passenger jet in mid-flight, with no idea how they got there -- and no idea where they are headed. Cut off from the cockpit and with a dying smartphone as their sole source of communication, they learn the U.S. is under a devastating attack....and they might be the only survivors."Tokyo in Tulsa works to give back to the community, as well, and this year's designated charity is Bikers Against Child Abuse.A silent auction, photo suite and "Bounty Hunters vs. the Undead" challenge are among the charity events planned for this weekend's event.TOKYO IN TULSAFriday-SundayCox Business Center, 100 Civic Center (formerly Tulsa Convention Center)Tickets: $30 Day Membership, $50 Weekend Membership / $15 One-day Section Passes (gaming, music or shopping)For more information: Go to tulsaworld.com/tokyointulsaMichael Smith 918-581-8479michael.smith@tulsaworld.comCopyright: ___ (c)2013 Tulsa World (Tulsa, Okla.)
